Riffat obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in March 2008 from the
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Riffat worked in Bangladesh for Build Trade Engineering Ltd. as an Assistant Engineer designing different steel structures. She also worked for Zakir Steel Zone Ltd. (in Bangladesh) as a Design Engineer performing analysis and design of steel structures.
Before joining JMS Engineering Ltd., Riffat worked as a Research Assistant for the School of Engineering , UBCO, in 2012. She assisted on a project “Prioritization of Replacement Water Main Program: A Risk-based Decision Support Tool (for City of Kelowna).
Riffat Joined JMS Engineering Ltd. in 2014 working part-time and learning under the mentorship of Joseph. She has been introduced to various structural design software programs. She has taken several courses towards her P.Eng. in Civil/Structural Engineering. In 2018, Riffat received her designation of “Engineer-In-Training” (E.I.T.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. and at this point was working full-time. At JMS Engineering, Riffat has worked on several significant structures from analysis and design to site inspection of industrial/agricultural projects, including foundations for pre-engineered steel structures.
